About Kitchen Friend

Kitchen Friend is actually the name of a kitchen supply store in the Sunset district of San Francisco – that is however not the inspiration for this blog, just a nice sounding name.

I’m a ex-Culinary school, currently business world, frustrated cook who thinks about food and cooking constantly. I live with my awesome wife A (who by the way, told me to start blogging about organic food boxes – like I said, she’s awesome) in San Francisco. We’ve got a dog (Miss G), a little condo, and lots of hungry friends who are always calling with questions like “what am I supposed to do with 5 pounds of kale?” So this blog will hopefully give some answers but also, it’s just a fun project and I love projects.

So what’s the premise? We started getting an organic food box delivered from a local CSA to our doorstep every week. I’m going to cook out of it and use every last bit and document the process. I know I’m going to learn a lot but hopefully, it’s useful or entertaining to someone out there as well. And yes, it’s great to eat local but even more important, it’s super tasty. Plus, this is sure to keep us from getting in that “what’s for dinner, honey?” rut where you eat the same thing over and over again. Well, that’s the intention anyways.
